Sphynxes are one of the most unusual-looking and distinctive breeds of domesticated cats, and although I am not necessarily a fan of them (or selective breeding in general), they are very fun to draw with all the wrinkles and interesting shapes.

The name is a play on the Egyptian cat deity Bast, and also somewhat inspired by the character in Neil Gaiman’s Sandman comic, a forgotten god living out her days in an empty, dilapidated temple.

Curiously, about half of the people who see this think that it’s a Chihuahua, perhaps in part because of its Day of the Dead markings.
