“Black Swan” Print
Dark and brooding, this elegant black bird glides through the water.
While staying at the Flamingo resort in Las Vegas, I saw a black swan for the first time in their outside pond area. They are intensely striking creatures, almost menacingly so. With jet black feathers and a blood red beak and eyes and their heads craned downward, they seem like a natural villain. Native to Australia, they’re quite harmless (unlike many other animals from that land).
I spent an enormous amount of time on both the feathers of the bird and the water. Water is one of the most difficult subjects to draw, but I think I was able to capture the dynamic reflections and shadows. The whole piece has a bit of a murder mystery novel feel!
