The festive energy of a traditional Mexican dance is captured here!
It seemed only natural to do a male companion to the Mexican Folklorico lady dancer I did last year. I’ve always liked the los machetes dance, in which a man uses two blades during the routine, clanging them overhead (and underneath) as he spins and pivots. It’s a great illustration of the lively energy of Mexican culture, and I wanted to capture that, especially through the bold colors. Originally, I was going to make the female dancer’s background magenta, but ended up with the blue since it worked with her color palette better.
