Día de los Muertos meets old school movie star in this handsome, painterly portrait.
Roughly one year after I made “Luna,” I decided to do a male companion piece. At that time the mixed media process I used to create it was a departure for me, and I replicated it for this one—pencils, markers, colored pencils, acrylic and digital. It’s a little more time-consuming than my normal process, but I enjoy the softer, more painterly look.
As far as Marcos himself, I was going for a classic movie star look, and I think he plays nicely off Ms. Luna.
